Chef Jamie's Blog

Hello all.

This is the first of many blog posts for Havering & Thurrock Catering Services. I will be writing about my activities in the schools from week-to-week and outlining future cooking events.

These are exciting times in our secondary schools. We have various 'theme days' coming up including 'Mexican, 'Jamaican' and 'Build a Burger' days.

In the primary schools we will be rolling out our 'Let's Get Cooking' programme which includes LIVE cooking events where the teachers and children take a starring role.

I have been busy with a Spanish theme day recently where I cooked paella at Hall Mead. This was very popular. I also visited Grays Convent where they had the ultimate chocolate day for St Nicholas Day. This featured chocolate fudge cake, mini chocolate cake lollies, chocolate sponge cake, chocolate and cherry cookies, all topped off with hot chocolate and marshmallows.

I have since been visiting the primary schools in Thurrock demonstrating garnish and presentation skills.

Hope you like the photos.

That's all for now. So watch this space!
